Facing local business needs in Cambodia, we integrated Alibaba Cloud network acceleration and CDN as the main means to improve user experience when deploying Cambodian servers. The goal is to reduce time-to-first-byte (TTFB), improve cache hit ratio, and balance security and observability.
The architecture is centered on the collaboration between local origin in Cambodia and Alibaba Cloud CDN edge nodes. DNS offloading is used to prioritize local requests to the nearest edge node, and return the source to the Cambodian server when necessary, ensuring that static content is provided by CDN first, and dynamic requests are returned to the source reasonably.

Set reasonable Cache-Control and versioned URLs for static resources, and use gzip/Brotli compression to reduce transmission volume. Through the combination of hierarchical caching (edge caching + origin caching) and long and short TTL, the cache hit rate is improved and the frequency of returning to the origin is reduced.
Adopt long connections, HTTP/2/3 and connection reuse technology for dynamic interfaces, and combine edge preheating and prefetching strategies to reduce cold start delays. For interfaces that change frequently but can be cached for short periods of time, use short TTL or edge cache flushing to balance consistency and performance.
Put certificate management and TLS offloading at the edge of the CDN, reducing pressure on the origin and shortening handshake times. Together with WAF, rate limiting and abnormal traffic detection, it protects Cambodian servers from common attacks while ensuring smooth acceleration channels for legitimate traffic.
Establish an end-to-end monitoring system, covering DNS resolution time, edge delay, return-to-origin RTT, cache hit rate and error rate. Unify log collection and indicator alarms to quickly locate problems at the edge, transmission or origin, and shorten fault recovery time.
Use geo-geographicalized DNS and health checks to implement traffic routing and automatic failover. Combining the low TTL policy with the grayscale publishing mechanism, traffic can be quickly adjusted to healthy nodes or backup computer rooms in case of abnormalities, reducing user impact.
When deploying servers in Cambodia, you need to pay attention to local bandwidth interconnection, ISP routing and regulatory compliance. It is recommended to collaborate with local network providers for link optimization and regularly evaluate the coverage and performance of edge nodes in Cambodia.
Based on practical experience, it is recommended that: 1) Static content should be served by CDN first, with versioning and compression; 2) Dynamic interfaces should use short caching and connection reuse; 3) TLS and security protection should be moved to the edge; 4) Establish a complete monitoring and DNS routing strategy; 5) Consider local network characteristics and compliance requirements, and continue to optimize.
